My Travel Story

Dear Madam/Sir
My name is Nele, I am from the south west of Germany and deep in my heart I do hope that a big dream can become true: Ocean College.
Ocean College is a project where we sail about 11.000 nautical miles in 6 months, visit 15 our destinations und cross the atlantic. Half a year abroad - a big challenge and a big adventure!
The sailing classroom offers a unique educational experience for about 34 pupils. We will be taught very practically, so we can apply our knowledge in daily practice. A fantastic alternative to the traditional school system.
Furthermore, we are learning how to discover and apply our individual potential in these 6 months. Firstly, everyone is encouraged to develop himself/herself in a group and solve problems in a team, and we are expected to tackle various tasks. Besides a vocational orientation we are getting a nautical education. A unique chance to prepare for one’s life!
An essential component are all the 15 different cultures. We are learning about their cheerful lifestyles and probably about less luxury than in Germany. For example, we will work on coffee plantations in Costa Rica. We will get experience in the production of coffee. During our stay we support the locals in different ways.
Further, there is a research project about natural risks and global change. We will take samples of water.
These and other international meetings will make Ocean College a unique project, which will widen my horizon, my knowledge and qualifications.
But I need your help to realize this big dream. Ocean College will cost me 23.000 €. I am aware of this sum. But I also know Ocean College is worth it. I am very glad and thankful about any financial support of you. Many thanks in advance for your support.
