My Travel Story

In September 2015 I will be traveling to Arusha, Tanzania to join a volunteering organization called International Volunteer Headquarters where I will spend 5 weeks. During this time, I will join the Child Care project and will be working with children on orphanages.  Due to the high rate of HIV/AIDS and other illnesses in Sub-Saharan African countries, a large number of children are orphans in Tanzania and many have been abandoned by their parents, which leaves a strain on other family members and neighbours who take the responsibility to look after them.


Since I am currently taking a break from paid work and wish to travel abroad, I feel this is a great opportunity for me to do something meaningful and give back to the community.  During this project I will be helping to make the difference in most needed countries and I will need your help for this.


I have created this fundraiser with the aim of making the cost of volunteering more affordable. The flight tickets, medical insurance, work permit, criminal record checks and visa will be fully funded by myself, which covers approximately 60 % of the total cost and this fundraiser will help with the remaining costs. It will also help me making further contributions, which are still expected from volunteers. I will be taking much needed supplies to the children such as English books, Medical family guides, first aid materials, children’s clothing, face painting, group games, etc.


As I will be departing soon, this campaign will remain open while I am volunteering and will end a week before I depart.


This means so much to me and I take this opportunity to thank everyone who has taken the time to read about this and contribute to a great cause.
