My Trip:

From Fall 2015 to Spring 2016 I will be studying in Japan!
Specifically I will be studying in Fukuoka at Seinan Gakuin University.

It is my dream to study in Japan and take in as much of the culture as I can, I want to explore the country, from history Kyoto to lively Tokyo and even rustic Akita. My main goals are to understand the unique relationship between America and Japan, to become proficient in Japanese, and to expand my worldview.



About me:

I am currently attending St. Cloud State University in Minnesota as I complete an English Bachelor's Degree in Linguistics, with a Minor in Teaching English as a Second Language.

My area of focus while at SCSU has been Linguistics (How and why we learn language), I have focused on English and Asian Lanugages specifically Japanese which I have studied for a year.

I have also taken courses in Asian American studies, Asian History, and other subjects involving the study of World Culture and the melting pot culture of America.




What will I be doing in Fukuoka:

I will...

Study Japanese culture and take another full year of Japanese language courses.

Be immersed in Japanese language and culture.

Visit many different cities.

Visit Japanese friends I've made while studying at SCSU.

Conduct 2 or 3 homestays in which I live temporarily with a Japanese host family.
