Hello everyone! :)

My name is Jenni Shaw, and I am a Junior at NC State University. I have an incredible international opportunity coming up at the beginning of next year that I would love to share with you!

Starting in January of 2016, I have the unique opportunity to study abroad for the Spring semester of this upcoming school year in Lancaster, England. I was originally planning on going to Swansea, Wales, but further research showed that Lancaster University was a better fit for me academically and financially. However, I am still incredibly excited about studying in England! I will be gone from early-January to late-June. As an International Studies major, I am actually required to study abroad in order to graduate. However, to me, this is way more than just a requirement. I cannot express how blessed I feel to be able to go to another country while working towards my college degree in order to learn about and experience more of the world first hand. I plan on taking in all Lancaster has to offer as well as exploring more of Europe while I am there.

This international experience has me so excited that I feel as if I could actually burst! I sincerely hope this opportunity to get out into the world gives me the chance to leave an impact on someone’s life, because I know for sure that my life will be impacted in ways I can’t even understand.

  • A LOT Of Big Changes...

    Hey everyone...

Wow, a lot has changed surrounding my study abroad trip next spring. These are good changes, and hopefully these changes will make it easier for me to raise the money I need to make my trips happen!

The first change is that I will no longer be going to Swansea University in Wales. After looking up the courses available at Swansea, meeting with a study abroad advisor, and lots of prayer, I came to the conclusion that Swansea was not the best fit for me academically. There is a part of me that is sad because I was very excited about studying in Wales. However, I am still very excited because my advisor found a university in the UK that is an amazing fit for me both academically and financially. So, I am pleased to announce that I will be attending Lancaster University in England next semester! Lancaster is a beautiful place and is among the top 10 universities in the UK. Not to mention it is in a prime location to allow easy travel between other European cities, so I will be able to see many other places!

The second change that comes along with attending Lancaster University is a financial change. The tuition for Lancaster is much cheaper than Swansea, so after financial aid is put into the equation, I am only in need of $2,711 for my trips instead of $8,771 like before! This is a huge financial blessing, and I hope it means that I will be able to reach my goal before I leave in January.

Now if you go to my FundMyTravel page, the goal amount the page gives ($20,200) is inaccurate. It is set up for Swansea's tuition instead of Lancaster's, and it does not take financial aid into consideration. So please don't let that big number scare you away from donating! The REAL GOAL is $2,711. Any amount of any size is a huge help. And remember, I have a reward system for everyone who donates because I want to be able to say 'thank you' in a really special way. The reward list can be found at the bottom of the 'Updates' tab of my FundMyTravel page.

Thank you guys so much! Please continue to share, pray, and donate so I can take part in this incredible experience! :)

  • Fundraising Update:

As of today, I have raised $160 of the $8,771 I need to make both of these trips possible! This is amazing, and I couldn't be more grateful! :) Thank you to all of those who have shared my campaign, donated, and/or prayed for me. I can't tell you how much I appreciate it!
