My Travel Story

by: Sophia Vancouver Start Date: Feb 26, 2015 - End Date: Jun 15, 2015
I believe that volunteering is extremely important for a person’s well being no matter where it may take place, but I love to travel and being in the field. I think this volunteer service opportunity will be a great way for me to not only volunteer and work with habitats, but to also gain leadership and travel experience. I am passionate about this specific volunteer prospect because I have an undying love for elephants and wildlife in general. I aspire to be a wildlife photographer to be able to inspire others to support creatures that can’t speak up for themselves and to notice the beauty of their habitats, so I think that this will help me further my career choice, but also help others in the process. I think that is the best way to get ahead in life: To help yourself by helping others.

  • Gratitude And New Information

    Hey Everyone!

First I want to say Thank you, thank you, thank you! to everyone who has supported and donated towards my trip thus far! I am truly shocked in how much I have made in just a little over a month.

Unfortunantly, the program costs a bit more than I had anticipated. I am looking to make as close to $5,956 now. I know that this is a little more than anticipated by me and everyone who has previously donated or plans to donate. Because of this new cost I would greatly appreciate any help I can get. Pass the word, share this with your friends or family. Anything.

You guys have been wonderful. I can not express how amazed I am at all the support I have recieved.

I am very excited for this wonderful and unique experience. I will be volunteering over 80 hours of my time towards helping to protect wildlife from poachers and abusive work conditions, which both are a big problem in Thailand right now in terms of wildlife sustainability.

I plan on taking a ton of photos to share my experience with everyone that has helped me and with people who are also interested in traveling and sustainable living. my website is: sophia-vancouver-kg8a.squarespace.com. Check out what i've done so far with my website, but also check it out for Thailand photos in September!!

    Thank you so much!!
  • Committed!

As of this moment I have officially commited to volunteering abroad in Thailand through ISV. I couldn't have done it with out the support of everyone who has donated or shared my page with friends and family. I have raised about half of the funds I need from outside funding and through fundmytravel. But I still have half to go! Share my link again or for the first time or donate if you are able.

Thank you so much. Everyone has been a huge help. I am very excited to get the chance to travel abroad to and volunteer my time towards helping rescued animals and maintaining wildlife.
