With the holiday season right around the corner, now is a perfect time to start thinking about how to make the most out of your campaign. With people starting to celebrate all kinds of different holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah, New Year’s), now is an excellent time to bring up your campaign! You’ll be surrounded by family and friends, who are your main target audience and donors. Since everyone will be together, this is a great time to ask for donations. By explaining what you will be able to do, see, and experience with their contribution, you will be able to convince others to donate. Below are some ideas on how you can bring up your campaign to your friends and family during the holiday season.
Give a Holiday Speech
Whether you are attending or hosting a holiday party, these are both perfect opportunities to let everyone know that you are raising money for your meaningful travel experience and that you need their help. By giving a speech or just connecting with other party goers, you will be able to connect with your donors in person. Doing this will add a personal connection to your campaign and increase your donations. An important thing to consider when giving your holiday speech is to motivate party goers to take action. You could ask your audience to pull our their phone and look up your campaign or even have a signup sheet where people could write down their email or phone number to learn more about your campaign. So make sure to take advantage of these social gatherings, and connect with your target audience to increase your donations!
Skip Gifts and Go for Donations
Since the holiday season is usually associated with gifts and presents, now is a perfect opportunity to bring up your campaign. Skip the presents this season and instead ask family and friends to donate to your trip. Let your family and friends know that you would rather have support for your trip then a gift. That is a great opportunity to reach your goal amount. Make sure to let them know no matter how small or large the donation is, you appreciate their support. Don’t forget to send a thank you note, or thank them in an update on your campaign page, to show them how much you appreciate their donation!
Send a ‘Season’s Greeting’ Email
If you are like my family and are spread out all around the US, you may not be able to see them in person during the holiday season. However, this doesn’t mean you won’t be able to connect with them on a more personal level. A great alternative is to send them an email! In this email, you can combine the two suggestions from above! Make the email your “in-person” presentation, as well as ask for donations instead of gifts. Be sure to add your own touch to the email to connect with your donors on a personal level.
The holiday season is a great time to connect with your future donors. So whether you just started your campaign or you are in the final days, you can connect with friends and family this season to help you reach your goal amount in no time! Happy Holidays and Happy Fundraising!
