Deciding to go abroad is a big step! However, starting a crowdfunding campaign makes it easy to raise the funds you need. While you may be feeling overwhelmed by the cost of going abroad, FundMyTravel helps you make your campaign the best it can be so you can reach your goal. One resource to check out is our FundMyTravel Toolkit. In this post, we’re going to break down how to get the most use out of it.
On the right side of the toolkit page, there are three downloadable documents you can use. We suggest you take a look at all of them! First is an offline PDF version of the FundMyTravel toolkit – you can print this out or save it to your phone so you can access it whenever you want. The second document is an outreach letter you can use to reach out to possible donors. While the letter is set up for you to fill in the blanks, we suggest that you personalize it. Adding your own voice and creative flare will stick with your donors. Lastly, there is the FundMyTravel checklist. This checklist is a great resource! We suggest completing every item on the list. A complete campaign page is more trustworthy to possible donors and has a higher chance of being successful!
Keep It Positive
Your campaign description is one of the most important parts of your campaign. This is where possible donors will find out where you are going and why you are asking for money for your meaningful travel experience. For this reason, it is important to write a positive campaign description. Telling your donors what you are going to see, experience, and do with their donations is a great way to inspire them to donate. The rule of thumb is to keep it positive (but also be informative) so you can show possible donors how grateful you are to go abroad!
Hit the Share Button
Whether you are sharing your campaign on social media or via email, reaching out to your network of friends and family is a great way to engage potential donors. By hitting the share button on your dashboard, you will be able to reach more people and increase the chance of more donations. Sometimes certain people aren’t on social media, reaching out to these people by email is a great way to contact them. So don’t forget to share your campaign on multiple platforms to maximize donations. You can also encourage your friends and family to share your campaign to their own networks – a share is worth about $18 in donations!
Another great idea outlined in the FundMyTravel Fundraising Toolkit is to raise money for your travels offline. Offline fundraising is a great option because you will be able to connect with people in person. By hosting various events or fundraisers you’ll be able to tell people about your campaign and encourage them to donate. One of our favorite ideas is to host a bake sale with food from the place you will be visiting. There are tons of cool things to do for offline fundraising, and you can come up with your own ideas as well. For more suggestions, check out the FundMyTravel toolkit. Don’t forget to post an update on your campaign page about your offline fundraiser and how much you raised! This shows people you are dedicated to reaching your goal.
Be sure to use all of the resources FundMyTravel provides to create an awesome campaign!
