Hello!

My name is Ashley and I am currently a 10th grader at LPS Richmond. I am in the top 5% of my student body with a 3.85 GPA and on the dean's list with honors. I was crowned class princess during my freshman year and I am a nominee to join the Honor council where I will be an advisor to my high school peers. My future goal is to attend Standford for a law degree so I can help the underserved community like Richmond California where I live.

I've always had a passion for helping others and I hope to make an impact with as many people as I can! I look to my mom as an example because she is a very hard working single mother that is dedicated to making sure that my family has everything we need. I want to be as strong, kindhearted, committed, and passionate as my mom so I can make a difference in everything I do. I am the oldest of three siblings and I want to make sure that I lead by example.

Why am I asking for help:

I am trying to raise funds for an opportunity of a lifetime to make a difference! Last summer I was fortunate enough to attend a summer program at UC Santa Barbara for 6 weeks during the summer and through that program, I earned 4 college credits. My experience at UC Santa Barbara inspired me to keep pressing forward toward my goal. Each summer, until I graduate from high school, I hope to attend a summer program that allows me to become a better candidate for college.

This spring I have the chance to volunteer in Fiji spending time working in the local schools tutoring students in English, facilitating much-needed art and music classes, and exploring the history as well as the culture of Fiji. In addition, I will be teaching computer literacy classes to older youth and young adults. My volunteer work will not be limited to the schools because I will also have opportunities to reach out to the community. For example, I could be assigned to a project to help a neighbor repair their roof or build a kitchen. I will also be involved in some environmental projects to help preserve the beautiful and fragile ecosystems in Fiji.

What I am going to do with my experiences:

I'm excited to have this opportunity and will work harder than I’ve ever worked to accomplish my goals. Once I have accomplished my goal of obtaining a law degree I plan to help bring justice to the most vulnerable members of our society. Please support me by giving generously to support my mission :)
