Veterinary Training with Wildlife in South Africa
My name is Camille and I am a french veterinary student from VetAgro Sup Lyon.
I have decided to pursue my passion by concretizing my dream : practice veterinary medicine with wild mammals from South Africa.
I will be working with the renowned Dr. Peter Rogers in the field near Hoedspruit (province of Limpopo) and in his clinic ProVet Wildlife Service.
It will take place from the 24th July to the 14th August 2018.
I will participate in medical work on sick and injured wildlife, learn about disease control, make exams as taking blood samples from wildlife, learn about and veterinary drugs and their uses, assist in game capture and immobilisation...
Veterinary work is essential to the preservation and protection of rare and endangered species endemic to Africa. Wildlife vets play an important role in the care and preservation of South Africa’s wildlife. Vets help with managing wildlife populations in reserves as they administer contraceptives to wildlife and assist with the capture and relocation of animals between reserves. Infectious diseases are also widespread amongst wildlife and the vets frequently conduct tests and treatment on wildlife.
I will get pratical experience with real life wildlife conservation work. I will also experience a different way of life and challenge myself.
I am carrying out this crowdfunding especially for companies interested in wildlife conservation and which would like to have visibility on such a project. By making a donation to my project, you can be highlighted in fonrt of my 950+ friends on Facebook, my LinkedIn contacts where my profile is quite active, my veterinary school with all its students, teachers, doctors and staff.
I will also make a 2 weeks road trip from Cap Town to Durban discovering the diversity of fauna and flora along the south coast.
I express my utmost gratitude for any contributions to this cause.
