Hi everyone,
I am Zied from Tunisia. I am currently doing my master's degree at the graduate school of engineering at Kyoto University. I am conducting research about the performance-based evaluation of existing bridges.
Before coming to Japan, I worked for the General Department of Bridges and Roads in Tunisia as a principal engineer.
My interest in bridge inspection and maintenance started after Mont-Plaisir’s bridge incident in 2015 fortunately there were no life losses. As a reaction, our department launched a campaign of bridge inspection for the old bridge and I was a member of the team in charge of assessment and approval of bridge inspection reports. This incident spotted the light on the lack of experienced and certified engineers to conduct bridge inspection in both the private and public sectors.
As a part of my studies, I had an internship at an expressways company in Japan last summer. They introduce me to the web-based version of training called "FHWA-NHI-130055: Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges" which I passed its online admission test successfully. Two former trainees I have met told me about the efficiency of the instructor-led training they attended in the USA. Actually, all the Departments of Transportation (DoT) in America require the completion of this training to be eligible to conduct a bridge inspection which shows its value and importance.
Being a certified bridge inspector will boost my career and enhance my chances to find a job. I will also probably be the first or one of the first certified bridge inspector in Tunisia. I am 100% sure about the quality of this training and I count on your help to make this dream true.
