Mental Health Placement in Sri Lanka
My Travel Story
In June 2017 I will be heading out to Sri Lanka, with SLV Global, for a 5 week mental health placement.
Mental health is a common concern, with more awareness being drawn to it in today’s world. A vast majority of people have experienced the effects of mental health at some point, whether it be personally, through family members, or even close friends.
SLV Global set up this programme to allow psychology students to use their current knowledge to make a difference in a country that currently lacks resources. It allows these individuals to gain hands on experience to improve skills and knowledge for their future careers.
My time in Sri Lanka will involve working in a psychiatric or community mental health setting. Alongside this, I will also be carrying out projects for youth teaching, child’s teaching and working with people with additional support needs.
Any donations would therefore be appreciated to ensure that I can be a part of this incredible work and help those who need it! Thanks.
