This campaign is to help fund my trip to Nicaragua in January 2018. We will be hiking in coffee plantations, learning every aspect of coffee trade and production from one of the first fair-trade cooperatives in the world, and visiting many significant sites including: the historic Selva Negra coffee estate and retreat; La FEM - an all women coffee cooperative; Masaya Volcano National Park; Granada and Managua. As a bonus, we will delve into chocolate production as well! (COULD THIS BE ANY MORE PERFECT!?!?!?!?!)
This course will help fulfill a requirement for my minor in Geography and will contribute to my overall academic success and pursuit of my bachelor's degree in Anthropology. This opportunity to go abroad will also allow me to improve my Spanish. My ultimate academic goals would absolutely meld coffee, culture, travel and service. I haven't exactly figured out how to do this but this course and travel experience will definitely point me in the right direction!
Thank you so much for taking the time to consider supporting me! ANY contribution is greatly appreciated!!!
P.S. I was awarded a $750 scholarship to go towards this!!!
