My Travel Story

Hola! My name is Hannah and I am a Psychology major and Spanish minor at Purdue University Northwest. I am planning to study abroad in Caceres, Spain this May!
All my life I have wanted to travel and now I have the perfect opportunity. This trip will not only help me complete my Spanish minor- it will give me the language practice I need to be confident in my Spanish writing and speaking abilities. While I am abroad, I am also going to work on a personal goal. Naturally, I am an introvert and have a hard time talking to people, and that is something I want to change. Leaving the U.S. for the first time and being immersed in a different culture will force me out of my comfort zone, and I will meet so many new people!
My plans for the future include becoming a psychologist. After experiencing another culture in such an intense way, I will be more culturally-aware and more understanding of other people- great traits to have for my future career!
Living, learning, and exploring in Spain will help me in every aspect of life, but first I need a little help. Included in my trip expenses are tuition and books for two classes, along with the necessities such as food and transportation costs. I have been working two part time jobs to save money and have also been awarded a scholarship from my school's International Programs Office, but I still have not quite reached my goal. With all of your help, I hope to make this dream a reality. Please help me study abroad in Spain! Thank you!

  • ¡Estoy Emocionada!

¡Feliz Navidad y feliz año nuevo! I hope everyone had a great holiday.

I am so excited! Why? I just applied for un pasaporte, a passport. The trip to Spain is slowly creeping closer but it still feels pretty surreal. I have begun to make preparations for Spain by brushing up on my Spanish skills (thanks, Duolingo!) and making a list of things I might need on my trip. My 21st birthday is in a few weeks and to celebrate, I've decided to go to a Spanish restaurant in downtown Valparaiso, IN called Don Quijote. I like the rice and shellfish dish ,paella, but I'm a little more excited to try the sangria!

I'll post again after my birthday to tell all about it! Thanks for reading and I hope you all have a happy New Year!

    ¡Hasta luego!
