Hi guys! Glad you have taken the time to check out my page. Over the past year,  I have been studying hard with my return to college, and have taken a serious interest in psycholgy. With that being said, I have realized the challege of aquiring an adequate degree in psych and what constitutes getting into a reputable graduate's school. In other words, the only way I will be able to practice what I want (clinical psycology) is by aquiring a PhD from a good grad school to help with internship and employment.

A while back, I saw an advertisment on my Facebook newsfeed titled "Get Psychology Experience Abroad". I clicked on it, knowing that I would have to start looking into more hands-on experience and volunteer work to put on a resume for grad school. It was an organization called "Sri Lanka Volunteers" which sends people like myself to Sri Lanka (and more recently, other places such as Bali and India) to help the local communities with mental health projects, special needs assistance, long-term treatment, and teaching english to children.

More recently, as I realized that this could actually be possible, I threw my hat in. With my experience in working in an assisted living facility, I was acceopted to the May 15th Level One mental health placement in Sri Lanka! At first I was in disbelief, because this has always been a dream; to get in the field and travel abroad. I am very passionate about the whole ordeal and am very excited to travel outside of North America and help others in the area I love: Mental Heath. The program fee which includes room, board, etc, comes out to $1904 after I paid the $350 deposit. I should be able to cover this amount with student loans. To the right is a breakdown of the expenses that I am asking for. My priority will be the airline ticket and visa, etc. The row titled "Local Travel Expenses" gives me a weekly allowance of $150 per week for ten weeks. Feel free to ask me any questions! There is a link to the SLV website if you want more information. I should have a video and other links up soon and will update regularly.

Thanks!

Hey guys. Just wanted to let you know that I applied for my passport on Friday and should receive it within 3-6 weeks. I needed to get going on this as I need it to apply for a visa. With that said I will remove $150 from my total on here as I was able to pay for it with my paycheck.
    Thanks!
