My Travel Story

by: Vandi Marquez Start Date: Sep 16, 2016 - End Date: Mar 14, 2017
I'm Avery and am almost 13 years old. I love soccer and am working hard to send myself to Spain with my team for a 10-day training trip. It will include 9 nights, 2 in Madrid, all meals, 2 matches, 2 stadium tours, all transportation, city tours, a day trip to the beach along w/ the training and games!!! It is a once in a lifetime opportunity and I can't even believe it! My team will train in Sevilla with the Sevilla youth FC in a session run by their coaches! AND we will get to meet players from the 1st team Sevilla FC!! We are going to watch the Sevilla FC play Deportivo AND a la liga match of Real Betis and VillaReal!!

This season is my first with my team. In 2016, US Soccer approved 7 Developmental Academy(DA) teams in my home state. When I made this team, my parents agreed to drive me the 186miles to practice 4x/week...and it's a lot of commitment. I am the oldest of 4 boys; 12, 9, 5 and 2 and we all love soccer! I have played soccer since I was 3 years old and I don't even know what life would be without it! I hope to play professionally one day and the ultimate would be to play internationally!!! My dad played minor league soccer before he went into the Army. He's been in the Army now for about 15 years!!

My favorite player is Messi on FCBarcelona. I like him because of the person that he is off the field while being the best player on the field! He is humble and always so gracious about winning. I've done a few school reports on him and I have a big FATHEAD of him in my room.

Me and my brother came up with a business to make some money to help with the trip! It's called, "Two Brothers Take Your Trash Out," and we have 8 customers so far! We get up before school on trash day and take our customers' trash cans to the curb for them. After school, we go around and put all of the cans and bins back where they belong. We charge $1.50/week or $5.00/month. We hope to get more customers and continue for as long as we live in this neighborhood. Its a little hard to get up that early and go out in the dark, but I like that we are able to make money to contribute!

We have also sold bed sheets and donuts to raise funds...anything we can do to help!!

I'm excited about contributions on here and I think I can make it fun...
