Cristina's Study Abroad Trip-of-a-Lifetime 2017
Before I knew where I wanted to go to college, I knew for sure that I wanted to Study Abroad. Traveling has been a dream of mine sense I was a little girl. I am a big advocate for travel and people going to experience a new language and culture. Experience for me is one of the best ways to learn, and what better way to do that then studying in a different country. Being able to have this opportunity is amazing and I can’t wait to take up on it.
Chile is a beautiful country with the Andes mountains, Atacama Desert, and coastal waters of the Pacific Ocean. Valparaiso is a port city on the coast where the Universidad Catolica de Valparaiso is located. With recommendations from other students who studied there and with my personal major/academic preferences, I decided that this was the right place for me. While there I will be able to study and learn the Spanish Language more in depth as well as take classes that relate to my International Studies major. Going to a Spanish speaking country I hope will help me improve my Spanish communication skills.
My goal for this trip is to be able to speak Spanish more confidently as well as learn more about the Chilean culture and history. I also want to experience how independent I can be. I want to see how I do living in another country for four months where I do not know anyone and where I don’t have family living close by. This is going to be a good challenge for me to live out of my comfort zone and learn more about myself along the way.
