Besides always dreaming about visiting Costa Rica, through Performing Arts Abroad I get to engage in teaching and learning the tools of theater arts with troubled youth as a volunteer. This is an amazing opportunity to sharpen my skills as a performer, active listener, and leader as well as experience a new set of cultural diversity in a beautiful country like Costa Rica. I know how much theater has completely changed my life, and catapulted me into so much self discovery that I don't think I could have explored so bravely without it. As a youth, growing up in less kind or convenient environments, it's so easy to get lost in lifestyles that derive from self-hate or ignorance of the self. The opportunity to gage young people in theater exploration that help sharpen skills and provoke much awareness of self and others is really important to development in our social and critical world today. Being a young leader myself, it's important for young artists to meet and learn from and teach our fellow artists of different ages, ethnicities and experiences. Performing Arts Abroad does great work in this regard and it's an honor to be apart of a movement such as this one. A donation would give us all the chance to continue the effect of theater in different countries- you never know how encounters- big or small- will effect our future.
