My Travel Story

SLV Global is a voluntary organisation, which was founded in 2010 and has been supporting projects in local communities in Sri Lanka, India and Bali since then, while at the same time offering psychology students and graduates the oppurtunity to gain a unique experience by working and living in a new and totally different culture. Adapting to a new environment, experiencing the beauty and demands of this challenging and rewarding work is something I am really looking forward to and I am already grateful to being able to experience, as I will be joining the SLV Global Team on July 24th. I will be working for 4 weeks in the Mental Health Programme in Bali and live with a Balinese family in a local village. to be able to fully adapt to this beautiful and original surrounding.

As some of you might already know, I did some volunteering in Vietnam nearly two years before and I would like to expand my knowledge and my skills during this placement in the course of the Global Cititzenship Programm of my university, of which I am part and therefore, I am fundraising.

In Bali I will be working with individuals, which suffer from mental health problems in a local psychiactric hospital. Furthermore, I will be involed in teaching English to young professionals and using my professional work skills for taking care of children with special needs. The main aim of the local SLV Gloval team is to support those who are in need of therapy and help in the Balinese society and to help us students gain exceptional work experience, which might also pave the way into a future professional work field later on.
Moreover, I wish to produce new ideas regarding creativ therapy; such as the use of music and theatre, into the existing process and hopefully make a difference in the community side by side with all the other volunteers I will be working together with. All these goals and the passion and engangement of SLV Global  are very meaningful to me and led to my decision to apply for this work placement in Bali this summer.

For all of you, who choose to donate, I promise to send a postcard and some pictures, cook you a typical Balinese meal or wear an outfit of your choice for one day (choose as apporpriate of course!).
Every 50p can make a difference and I am already very grateful for your support and attention!
Thank you in advance for your generosity!
