Hello, my name is Heather and I am studying for my Criminology and Psychology degree at the University of Southampton and I am progressing into my second year. This summer I will be travelling to Bali and will be spending 4 weeks volunteering there on a Mental Health Placement. This placement will give me valuable hands-on experience which will help progress my degree and hopefully give me greater job prospects upon completion of my degree; along with positively impacting the community which we will be working closely with.

I am passionate about this project because I feel that I will have the chance to truely positively impact others in need. By teaching English to children and young adults I will be helping to secure their future, in addition to this part of my role will be to work alongside health professionals in assisting them both with the care of individuals with special needs and patients in a psychiatric facility. This will mean more time is able to be spent working one on one with the special needs children and the time spent in the psychiatric facility will allow me to compare and contrast it to mental health facilities and care in the UK.

Money donated will help fund the cost of the placement and allow me to expand my knowledge and skills whilst giving back and helping the community in Bali.

Thank you for all your support
