My whole life I've been an animal lover, caretaker, and rescuer and it has always been a dream of mine to visit India. With my thirtieth birthday approaching, I decided the best way to truly celebrate life and coming into my own would be to go somewhere by myself and do something that would be both meaningful and life-changing.

In my search, I came across an organization that was impressive beyond words. The work they do is so impactful and truly inspiring. I knew I had to be a part of it.

During my three week stay I will be sharing a home with a local family and fellow volunteers. We will receive daily Hindi lessons to help us better communicate with the staff and rescuers. I will be responsible for caring for ill, injured and abandoned puppies, adult dogs, cows, goats and other animals. I will be feeding, bathing and comforting them, ensuring their quarters are clean, and monitoring their progress. I will also be assisting the vets and nurses with their care and treatments. Some will be able to be rehabilitated and nursed back to health and some will need ongoing care throughout their remaining days.

This will be my first international trip and my longest ever. I know it's quite an ambitious undertaking. However, I feel, in my heart, that this is something I must do and that now is the right time. I still struggle financially, with student loans and caring for myself and my own dog, but I am digging deep and pooling all of my resources to make this happen.

Any help that I receive will go towards the cost of flights, transportation, vaccinations, passport and visa, and the fees for being hosted by this amazing volunteer organization.

Whatever you have to extend would be appreciated more than words can express. Thank you. <3
