My Travel Story

by: Galen Kingsley Start Date: Feb 20, 2017 - End Date: Jun 19, 2017
An opportunity for a mechanical engineer to study unique European airplanes in their region of origin — it doesn't happen every day! Yet that is exactly what Arizona State University's Aero-Mechanics program in England is!

My name is Galen Kingsley, and I'm a Mechanical Engineering student in my sophomore (rising junior) year at Arizona State. Though I have had an incredibly wide variety of interests in engineering, one area that I have been wanting to pursue more is aeronautics and aerospace; that is, studies of aircraft and spacecraft respectively. Aeronautics is a field that has grown at an exponential rate over its relatively short 100+ years, and European aircraft in particular has developed in a unique way.

In this program, it will begin with a week in London, traveling to museums and airfields looking at the history of aircraft development. After that, I will travel to Winchester and work with fellow students on looking at the technical developments over time in aircraft, as well as looking at different aspects of engineering profession.

I have dreamed of this kind of opportunity for a long time. If you can afford even one dollar to help me reach my destination, I would be very grateful for your support!
