SLV is a voluntary organisation which started in 2010. SLV runs projects to help the local community whilst simultaneously helping students and graduates to gain valuable experience in a totally different culture. I will be lending my skills to this organisation for a one week trip to India 23rd - 30th September 2018! This opportunity will greatly support my efforts to go into working in mental health and also support my studies on my psychology degree at university.

I am hoping to fundraise as much as possible in order to support me in financing this fantastic opportunity as currently all costs are coming out of my own pocket and since I am a student it's not really affordable.

During this trip I will have the chance to tour the impressive NIMHANS facilities and enjoy an audience with many of its clinicians, who will speak with me on a variety of topics around how India treats mental health issues both medically and culturally. I will also get to visit the Neuropathology Brain museum and participate in workshops on meditation and multicultural perspectives on working with children and adolescents. This blend of modern clinical practices and ancient cultural techniques will provide a truly unique and interesting experience for me.

On my final day I will get to visit beautiful Mysore and soak up the culture and beauty that India has to offer.

Those who donate will all receive my personal thanks and immense gratitude and I will be happy to exchange some sort of personal favour in return (e.g. baking cakes, picking you up from a night out, making dinner, etc.) especially for larger donations!;)
