Hello, my name is Donnie. I am 17 years old, from the United States of America. My passion is to save the environment from all the hurtful and wrong doings in the world. I am devoted to animals, the ethical and humane treatment of all living creatures and the environment to which they live. I care for all living creatures, whether it is a child, adult, plant, or animal. I am hoping to dedicate my life to help others in need by saving the environment, caring for children in “safe homes”, or volunteering at animal shelters. I currently volunteer at my local library and at my local Animal Shelter. I love spending my time helping others. I will be traveling to Hartbeespoort, South Africa in the summer of 2017, through the volunteering abroad company, GoEco, the program that I will be traveling with is the 'South Africa Wildlife and Social Volunteering Program', to help clean and take care of orphaned African animals such as monkeys, elephants, different bird species, giraffes and so many other beautiful animals. Also, while I am in South Africa, I will be taking care of children who live in a “safe house” that acts as a haven for children of domestic abuse and violence, and also teaching children about self esteem, hygeine, and basic social skills. This volunteer trip will broaden my leadership skills and also let me pursue my passion to help those that need help. This would be such an amazing expericnce for me and afford me the opportunity to explore South African culture.
