My Travel Story

This is my third year going to Mesa Community College. I am studying Journalism at this time and next summer, I would like to take two classes that I believe would help me with my degree in Britain. The Britain program offers two courses that can definitely help: introduction to digital photography and intercultural communication. I also believe that this experience will broaden my horizons by exposing me to new cultures and three new countries, Britain, Scotland, and France. This would be a good first experience for me to write about and put in my school's newspaper. It can be my chance to tell students, new and current, that no matter your financial status, you CAN study in a new country. I would like to help people out by talking about my experiences and others' experiences who were in the program with me. It'll also be good practice in writing for a paper. This would be the biggest challenge I will face in college and I want to be prepared for it. It will be my first real shot at independence for one month. This will be a great opportunity for me to experience a culture that shaped ours first-hand. I will compare and contrast both cultures so I can discuss what I learned with students who are interested in the Britain program.

So looking at all of the costs I will need to worry about is overwhelming to me. I wish I had the money so I don't have to do this campaign. I am also applying for scholarships, but it's never a guarantee that I will be awarded with the money. I am trying, though, because that's the best I can do at the moment. But with whatever I get from this campaign and the scholarships, I am hoping that I can achieve the biggest goal of my academic career: studying digital photography and intercultural communication in Britain. I am nervous but super excited.

I believe this experience will change me as a person and change my view of the world. I will learn things that will shock me, I will be exposed to new histories, architecture, food, and landscape. I want this trip to be my first time seeing the world because I don't know when an opportunity like this will arise.

Any amount is welcome and will be highly appreciated.

  • International Education Week

This week, the college is providing us with the chance to experience some of the cuisines we could expect in other countries in our cafeteria. We will also be able to learn a little bit about the different cultures around the world during the week. We can also hear from those have studied abroad in the past. I’m going to have to check that out sometime this week.
