My Travel Story

It has been my dream to study and travel abroad for a very long time. I am planning on going to Tokyo for my Masters Degree. The Global Citizenship & Cross Cultural Studies course in Japan will essentially allow me to tell others (mainly my students) about the world that we live in. Immersion into another culture is essential in broadening the mind and will provide me with plenty of material to teach in the future, no matter the subject. Japanese culture will give me an appreciation for multicultural understanding, global issues, and cross-cultural communication as a global citizen. I believe this study abroad program to be crucial in the addition to my Master's degree, that of Interdisciplinary Studies. The content of this program will improve my Master's degree by seasoning my teaching, contributing material to my own curriculum and gaining a better understanding of the world we live in. Interdisciplinary Studies has and will continue to equip me in the best way for the career I have chosen and am currently practicing; that of a teacher. Studying abroad will only serve to enhance my chosen path. Another future goal I intend to pursue would be that of teaching abroad. It would be a dream to teach in a foreign country. This trip abroad could lend lifelong relationships that create opportunities in the future. This could include teaching English in Japan at some point, perhaps the summer’s I have available as a teacher.

I'm planning on climbing Mt. Fuji during one weekend abroad. It is promising to be one of the most life-changing experiences. The "Goraiku" or "sunrise" is something of a pilgramage for those in the Land of the Rising Sun. It's physically demanding and spiritually enlightening. If you donate $100 you will get something very special from the top of the Mt. Fuji.

Please help me fund my Study Abroad by donating anything possible! Even one dollar will go a very long way. My goal is to completely fund my trip by the end of July. I have so many great things planned for this trip and if you give me your email address I can send you photos with personal thank you notes. Thank you again for helping me realize my dream of "Toyko Drifting"! :D
