My Travel Story

Hey everyone! I'm Maggy, I'm from Peru and I would like to share a little about my story. Basketball has always been part of my life, I felt that basketball ran through my veins and couldn’t spend a day without playing. I was blessed to play during my middle school and high school years, and sadly I had to stop playing during my college year since the school I went to didn’t have a women basketball team. I will always be grateful to my parents for bringing me to the United States because it gave me a better future and more opportunities than I could ever have in my country. I graduated College with a degree in Criminal Justice last year and right now I'm pursuing to complete a Masters in Cybercrime.
In one of those trips that I made to Peru with my family I met a basketball coach who gave me the opportunity to play basketball again on a semi-pro team, of course at the moment I didn't know what to do because playing basketball there meant that I had to live in Peru for at least six months, and even though Peru is the country were I was born I wasn't sure if I wanted to stay there for six months. However, I decided to give it a try and stayed in Peru for the first six months, and guess what? I loved it! Ironic right? Ha! I felt comfortable with the people I was playing with and basketball was part of my life again. After the first six months, I decided to stay for a longer time, so I stayed for a year, and without noticing I was already living in Peru. I fell in love with whom is my partner now Cyn, we met playing basketball. She is the one from the picture! And yes! She makes that happy, I think my smile says it all. We have been together for four years now, and I feel completely happy by her side, she’s my strength and support in everything. I wanted her to go to the US with me to see my family and just for vacation, but sadly she was denied the visa twice just because she doesn’t make as much money as they wanted. After this, she felt devastated because she knew how important it was for me to visit my family with her. That’s the reason I’m creating this fundraiser because I want to surprise her and take her to Spain, I know is not the US but sure is a great place to visit! I want her to feel that just because she was denied the visa twice doesn’t mean that the world is over, there is a lot more to see and hopefully, in the future, she gets her visa approved.

Thank you so much for reading!
Love, Maggy.
