Hello.

My name is Katka and I am 23 year old. I am from small country Slovakia, which is heart of Europe and my dream is be in China, learn Chinese language, study more about Chinese culture and enjoy my life in China. This is the reason, why I want to study in China. Conect two very important for me - education and my lovely China. I wanna study in China for 2 years and I really please help with funding my basic costs.

Ever since my early childhood I always dreamed of visiting China. At first I was fascinated by Kung-Fu and martial arts, later I began to learn Chinese language, write Chinese characters until finally I had the opportunity to spend two wonderful weeks in China. Studying abroad would not only be a great opportunity for me to expand my knowledge but also it would improve my understanding of China and its culture. That’s why I would like to continue with pursuing this dream.

Study in Chinese university in China gives me the opportunity to expand my cultural knowledge of China, and also to improve my language skills. I wanna continue in my education and study master degree in management - English taught and also attend Chinese courses and some language schools to improve my Chinese language as soon as possible.

Studying in China would not only be a challenge, but also a fulfilled dream, an activity that I enjoy and to which I would invest my time in. The first part of my dream is study management in English, so I will improve my English language and I will get new knowledge from school, which is not possible to get in Slovakia. I want to study at BIGC university in Beijing, but the problem is, that it is not possible to get full scholarship for this university and it is really hard to get part of scholarship for people from small country like Slovakia is. Finally, the relationship between Slovakia and China is still very low, so to got chance for studying is really unlikely. The second of my funding is Chinese language and Chinese culture. This program consists of knowledge of the language and the acquisition of this language, not only in written but also in oral terms. It means to master this language in every aspect. As for this program, it is a very intensive program that is further supported by the environment itself – China. Continuing encounters with this language will be beneficial to my knowledge, and thanks to the possibility of practicing Chinese language, my progress will be much faster.

Despite the fact that my university offers me the opportunity to learn Chinese in the form of a optional lessons, I have found out after a year of studying that this does not reach my expectations of the level of Chinese that I want to reach. After some time, I understood that learning at our school as well as self-studying beyond our lessons is not enough to make me fluent. I am currently attending this optional subject for the second year of three possible, and my knowledge is still inadequate for basic communication. That’s why I decided to take this opportunity that Fund my travel offered me, not only to study abroad but also to learn Chinese language in the country of it’s origin – China. As people say, a person learns language much more easily if his/ her surroundings (people, culture) are only speaking in the specific language.

Another part of this program is a look into the Chinese culture, whether it is Kung Fu, Tai Ji, Calligraphy, Chinese art or cuisine and architecture. During my two- week stay in China, I was able to take a small part of the Chinese culture, which was incredibly entertaining. I would love to learn, not only the calligraphy but also the basics of Chinese painting and art. Lastly during my studies in China, I had the opportunity to taste genuine Chinese cuisine, which addressed me not only with its spicy tones, but also with it’s diversity. I love Chinese architecture, nature and everything in this country. I feel in this country like this is my second hometown. This is a country, when I want to live. This is country, when I feel really happy and I felt happy like never before.

During my two-week stay in China, I was able to see differences in culture and also people’s behaviour, which I was really pleased with. I realized almost immediately that China is the right place for me to feel happy to a it is a place where I would love to live. This trip my parents pay from inheritance after grandfather, because he thought, that languages are really important for our life and know the world more and do more good things.

As for Kung-Fu and Tai Ji, in 2008 I began to be interested in Chinese Shaolin Kung-Fu martial arts, which carries a piece of Chinese history and culture. The love for Kung-Fu still resides in me even today. For over 9 years I have won several medals in various competitions. I have represented Shaolin not only in Slovakia but also abroad. I was a student for a long time, but I did coaching as well. I trained children and adults, increased their interest in China and the Chinese spirit, which I share with them with my knowledge of martial arts. Later, my love for Chinese art grew, so I started to do Qi Kong and Tai Ji over the next few years.

The massive interest and love for China and the two-week summer school that I attended, inspired me to create a blog about China, it’s culture, cuisine and everything connected with this country. Even though I do not have that much experience with China, and my blog is quite empty, if you chose me, I would have the chance to see a new part of the world and to experience how wonderful China really is.  The blog’s name : milujemecinu.blogspot.sk, which translates to We love China. I believe that even with my blog, the general public will get a better picture of this beautiful country.

The price of this school is 54 000CNY. per year, and my study program is for 2 years, it is mean 108 000CNY + accomodation for 1 month is 1 920CNY, and I want to study 2 years, it is 1 920 * 24 = 46 080CNY. Finally I need some money for food, it is cca 1 930CNY per month, it is 46 320CNY per 2 years. Finally I want to study Chinese language. Price per 1 hour is 170CNY. I want to study 6x per week, it is (6 hours x 47 weeks in year x  2 year) 564 hours x 170CNY = 95 880CNY per 2years. Together (without trips and lifestyle) is 108 000 + 46 080 + 95 880 = 249 960 CNY, but if I will get scholarship for funding me 70% of study = 108000 /100 * 70 = 75 600, I will pay only 249 960 + 75 600 = 174 360CNY = 22 241€. But minimum price for livint ( accomodation + food) for one year is 46 320 + 46 080 = 92 400CNY, it is mean 11 754,03€ it is 14 650,22$

Actually, I am sure what I want to wrote like my diploma these. I would very much like to choose a topic of my master’s degree thesis at my Chinese university, which would aim to compare the economy and education in China and in Slovakia.

I believe that my personal traits, knowledge and my love of China and it’s culture will be a good prerequisite for becoming a successful candidate for funding and you will send me to lovely China.
