My Travel Story

I am studying abroad in San Miguel de Allende (Central Mexico) for four weeks this summer as a way to contribute to my Spanish minor and fulfill a GE course. I will be taking a Spanish course and a course on the culture of Mexico. These two courses, taken while living with a host family, will expose me to the language, food, buildings, and traditions of the city and Mexico in general. The program in San Miguel de Allende also offers the opportunity to volunteer with Mexican school children. Being that I want to be a teacher, this is a perfect opportunity allowing me to work with students.

In all honesty, though, I just love Spanish! As an English major, I love words in general, but Spanish words are just as thrilling to me as English words. I have been studying Spanish consistently since high school, and I have this intense desire to be fluent. I feel studying abroad will truly seal in my ability to confidently speak Spanish.
