My Travel Story

by: Catherine Moore Start Date: Apr 16, 2016 - End Date: Mar 1, 2017
Grand County High School is located in beautiful Moab, Utah. Students in this small town are excited to participate in world travel to London, England to experience the wealth of history, art, and culture found there.

An expert local guide will take our group to The Strand, Trafalgar Square, Leicester Square, Covent Garden, Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament, Piccadilly Circus, St. Paul's Cathedral, Westminster Abbey, a theater performance, the Tower of London, the Royal Observatory, and the Maritime Museum. We will take a one day trip to Stonehenge and Windsor Castle. Students will have one free day, where they can plan their own adventure, perhaps to the British Museum or the Tate.

Art instructor Catherine Moore and world history instructor Sarah LaBrec will be taking students on this history and art instensive trip. Both of us have been to London many times and feel like this trip will expose students to the world with its the amazing musuems and sites. We are both passionate about history and art and will make a dynamic team.

Students will participate in a weekly assignment to help prepare for this trip. They will be looking in depth at places we will visit, which will help this trip be more meaningful and special. We will also cover travel and safety tips to ensure a wonderful adventure.

Giving our students an opportunity to travel to London will have a great impact on their lives. Up to this point, students have only learned about history and art history through books, the internet, and class discussions. Seeing art and history on sight provides a whole new outlook, perspective, and appreciation for the topics they have been studying.
