My Travel Story

A friend introduced me to the University of Melbourne when she visited the campus as part of her Christian mission. She witnessed how good the University was and encouraged me to learn more about it. I found out that the University also has a food science program and saw that its curriculum was a mixture of science and business, which made me deeply interested in it.

If accepted, I intend to bring what I learned back to the Philippines and have my own startup in food biotechnology in order to quickly address the nutritional needs of the country through food safety and security, laboratory-grown foods, fortified food, enhanced agricultural products, and brewing. It would be beneficial if I could collaborate with the University of the Philippines as part of their dedication to cultivate technology innovation. I would also like to teach food biotechnology and microbiology using current molecular biology techniques at the University of the Philippines in order to better train future scientists of the country and let them know that studying food involves hard and cutting edge science.

Moving forward, I do not intend to stop with a Master’s degree. I want to earn a doctorate degree and accomplish a postdoctoral research in order to continue learning and be at the forefront of food science and innovation in the Philippines. I hope to apply my training and education to my future startup and industry, as well as extend my knowledge to help and inspire future scientists.
