I have an amazing opportunity to go to Athens, Greece in the summer of 2018.  The program is a faculty led partnership between Oklahoma State University and Oklahoma City Univerisity.  It is a 3 credit study abroad course that will focus on the intersections of leadership, education, and advocacy within the LGBTQ community in Greece as well as an exploration on inclusivity as it relates to Counseling.  I am passionate about working with and advocating for the LGBTQ community.  This focus on multiculturalism and social justice is one of the reasons I chose the Counseling Psychology Doctoral program at Oklahoma State Univerity.  I love to travel, but when looking at all the possible study abroad programs for next year, this one jumped out at me.  This program is in collaboration with Colour Youth, an LGBTQ youth program in Athens that was created and completely run by the LGBTQ youth of Athens.  It also includes an educational component on rainbow families (families with LGBTQ parents) in Greece.  As I plan to focus my future counseling career specializing in LGBTQ mental health this Greece trip which brings together LGBTQ communities, Counseling, school credit, and travel, is a once in a lifetime opportunity.
Thank you for taking the time to read my campaign and for your consideration in donating to my study abroad program.
