My Travel Story

In Summer 2019 I am completing a 4 week volunteer placement in Colombo, Sri Lanka with SlvGlobal. 

In this placement I will be running physical, educational and therapeutic activities with adults and children everyday which will be organised by myself and a group of volunteers across the globe. I will also be working with patients struggling from mental health problems in an intensely immerse cross-cultural experience: running workshops and visiting psychiatric facilities. All activities follow the aim of promoting positive mental health by boosting confidence, self-esteem and improving key life skills. 

I will be staying with a family from Colombo as we learn about the culture and livelihood of Sri Lanka. I am aiming to raise £2000 in order to fly to Colombo and complete the placement.

This expedition will have a life changing impact on myself and my career as well as the lives of the patients and will give me the hands on experience to start my work in clinical psychology and mental health.
