My Travel Story

The luxury of having a great college library has been the only vacation i've had from my small rural town in Michigan. I have always pursued multicultural learning and interning, and hope to pursue a career involved in the unification of business between other countries. I love the arts, and have always been fascinated by sciences, this intersection has lead me to the pursuit of mechanical engineering, in which I will be interning with Chinas top firms to help flourish my abilities in creativity and how I can contribute on a global scale opposed to just a local scale. Unfortunately, I have always been financially disadvantaged, and can only afford community college through the help of pell grants, so studying at a university or traveling the world is a pipe dream to me.
Having the financial backing to expand to other parts of the world would bring a celestial level of realistic hope to the community i've grown up in and would prove to people who never fathomed the idea could be possible that expanding the mind to learning through a multicularal lens is plausible and can happen to anybody.
I have been accepted into a Chinese internship that will take me to Shenzhen, China where I will be being trained by businesses thriving in mechanical engineering, where I will be able to hone my abilities in a foreign setting. Everything is set up for me to go and explore this unique opportunity, however I lack the proper funding to actually go through with it, so this once in a lifetime opportunity recquires the help of any generous help I can get. I have applied for numerous scholarships but haven't heard anything back.
China has always been parallel with the United States in the field of innovation, which has always been my passion. Whether it's harnessing the creativity of the arts, or delving into the purity and ground-breaking elements of the sciences, I want to intersect what both countries have to offer in teaching the youth what it takes to lead the world. I am the first in my family to attend college, and would be the first to travel out of the country as well, adn this scholarship can shed some light on a community that is still under the impression that our town is the only town in the world.
All the help I can get would be the most appreciated, I will do whatever it takes to make this dream possible.
