Hi everyone,

In December I'll be heading off to Sri Lanka for 6 weeks to volunteer as part of a mental health placement. The program is run by the organisation SLV Global and is designed for psychology students and graduates. I'm very passionate about mental health and can't wait to gain practical experience in beautiful Sri Lanka. 

We will be working on various projects to assist adults and children with mental health difficulties and special needs, as well as teaching English one day a week. There are very few psychologists or mental health professionals in in Sri Lanka, and we are aiming to bring much needed skills and resources to the community.

As volunteers, we wil be expected to cover all of our own expenses, including resources. This could be anything like craft materials used to create stimulating activities for special needs children, or musical instruments/sports equipment to aid learning. Through fundraising I'm hoping to be able to help as much as I can on this project.
