HOLA!
Those of you who know me well know that I have been trying to finish school for a loooong time now! It hasn't always been easy, attending school while working full-time and [trying] to support myself. I have worked very hard to get to where I am and I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel! I will be graduating in the Spring of 2018, HOWEVER after I do, I want to do a three week course-study abroad in Costa Rica to enhance my Spanish language! I need your help! How I believe this trip will benefit me...
...There are so many reason to study abroad. I want this opportunity to get the most out of my University experience before I go out in to the real world. I feel the experience in studying abroad will also allow me to grow as a person by learning the Latin American culture and experiencing it hands on in Costa Rica. I can use this experience for career opportunities, strengthen social interactions with Latin Americans and transform the way I think as an individual or in a diverse group. With your help I can achieve all of this and more!
I have always had trouble with confidence and knowing what I want. I feel being a part of this program will give me a more sophisticated way of looking at the world. This program will help me better understand my own cultural values and preferences while experiencing Latin Americas own culture and values. Hearing others describe their adventures in studying abroad excites me to begin my own journey and write my story about this experience.
I have had several years of studying Spanish and Latin American culture. However, I have only gotten to study through reading text books or learning the language in a classroom setting here in the United States. If I got this opportunity to Study Abroad at the Latin University of Costa Rica, it would improve my foreign language skills by experiencing it first hand on the foreign city streets and in the local university as well as living with the host family. This will intensely influence my learning of the culture and enhance my foreign language.
I believe my education abroad will help me develop important cultural communication skills to use in a professional way someday. My career goal is to grow within a big organization and travel internationally with the corporation. Listing a study abroad experience on my resume will enhance my chances for any job success. Having taken this initiative not only says something about my academic achievement, but also about my personal ambition and determination. More and more employers are seeking out culturally aware and experienced employees who can work effectively in an increasingly global workplace.
In conclusion, being among hundreds of other students studying abroad, traveling the world is a once in a life time opportunity. I’m young, I want to take this opportunity to travel the world with no commitments but to study and learn. Studying abroad is an experience unlike any other. With your help I will be enhancing my language skills and knowledge, my future and my smile. :)
