My name is Samantha and I am a junior at WTMC. Ever since 8th grade I've been dreaming of studying abroad. This is based off of my strong passion for languages and other cultures, which I've been interested in since 2nd grade. I stayed up many nights sitting in my room researching other countries, their languages, their history, anything I could find! In 8th grade I learned about studying abroad, and I've been determined to make it reality since. I am now 16 turning 17, and earlier this month I was accepted into Youth For Understanding's summer abroad program in Argentina! I feel so incredibly close to fulfilling my years long dream of leaving the country and experiencing a culture unlike my own.

Going on this program is very important to me because I plan to major in Linguistics in college, and afterwards travel as part of my career. This program would jumpstart my fluency in Spanish and therfore my education in college. During my 8-week stay I will also gain lifelong friends and connections. This trip is extremely important to me, and I deeply appreciate all the support! In return for the support given to me, I will start and update a blog during my time there so that I may support travelers in the future, whether they be students studying abroad or adults wishing to go on an adventure.

    One Month to go!
I'm less than one month away from my departure date, and I'm more excited than you could believe! Although I still don't know which region or city I'm going to, I do know that it is going to be winter, so I'll have to pack for chilly weather. Thankfully Argentina's winter is not nearly as cold as Michigan winter(except in their mountains). This picture is of the Aconcagua mountain, and stands as the highest peak in the Western Hemisphere.
