My Travel Story

INSPIRATION
My name is April Shehorn from Illinois, I started raising funds for single parents in Uganda, Africa in 2021 to take their children back to school and to provide basic needs and food for their families.

THE IMPACT
I have met many families and grown to love all the children that we have helped with our selfless donors that believe in our vision. I am an entrepreneur working on a program called Skillful Kid, where children in Uganda get linked with a pen pal in the United States to learn of each other's cultures and mindsets so they can grow together.

MISSION
I want to visit Uganda to make a greater impact and to meet the children that have only been able to hear of me and see pictures. The children would be so happy to meet me and it will not only be a life changing experience for me, but for all the children and their parents as well.

This is meaningful to me because I have invested time and dedication tobring impact to these special families in Uganda. I truly believe this is a mission that needs attention and together we can send more children back to school this year, provide young ladies sanitary pads, provide families with brand new tooth paste, tooth brushes, and even food to last a month. The possibilities are endless.

I want to be on the grounds with these beautiful families and I want my children to also be impacted by this mission trip to continue the programs when I am no longer able. 

WHY UGANDA AFRICA?
Many years ago I started studying Uganda and the struggles they face as a third world country. I became emotionally attached to the families I met and decided if I can make just the smallest impact it would be the most imapctful to even one family, this turned into hundreds of families and a great team of volunteers to make it happen.

Now it is my turn to show my face and surprise these families with a visit and care packages. Please help me get to Uganda, Africa so I can personally huh the children and mothers that have fought so hard to hold their homes together even through every storm. This will be impactful and I will update all donors of the great journey as it's happening.
