My Travel Story

by: Walehiane Mélissa Start Date: Nov 11, 2017 - End Date: Aug 10, 2018
Hello everyone !

My name is Mélissa. I’m a student and I’m 17 years old. First, let me thank you to take the time reading my page !Well you might be wondering why I’m fundraisisng but first let me ask you a question and I want you promise me you’ll do your best to honestly answer it : what makes you wake up every morning?  Which dream are you purchasing ? Have you got the answer? I’ll make you a confidence and tell you mine : each day I hope that one morning I could wake up saying myself  I’m making the world a better place. Of course I’m not saying I would be a new Gandhi but what help me to affront life each day is my willing to dedicate my life by helping the others. I just feel it’s my responsability to make something and I really hope to make community service a major part of my life.To be honest, I’m deeply convinced each one of us has a kind of predetermined role on earth, a kind of mission he has to accomplish to be happy. And I sincerely think that when you know yours, you can start to be ownership of your life. Well, when I'm saying  « helping the others » in fact what concern me the most is helping to have everyone educated. Unfortunately as you know education is a right that not everyone is invited to have whereas I considerer to be essential. To be a human right. How can you progress when you aren’t educated ? The more knowledge we get, we grow and develop more in life. Education is what makes us right thinker and correct decision maker. Education is fundamental when you’re expecting improvements in the world. So that’s why I’m fundraising. After doing some research I found out about this dream trip called “The Refugee Education Project ”in Baltimore. As you might have known each day horrible circumstances force hundreds of people to live as stateless refuges. This situation revolt me. But this mission could give me  the opportunity to teach and mentor refugee youth this summer. By having this chance I could work one-on-one with children who have recently arrived in the United States.   I could help them  become self-sufficient and acclimate to a new culture.

If I could I would like to dedicate all my summer by making volunteer missions all around the world. Unfortunalty, even if I’m growing with extraordinary parents and two amazing little sisters, I live in a very modest family and we can’t finance this project. That’s why I need your help. This trip will change my life and impact the community of Baltimore but in order to achieve this, I have to raise sufficient funds. . I don’t want to let my financial situation hold me back from pursuing my passions. We are all struggling for a uniting world but the good news is that we have a uniting  organization named Rustic Pathways. The company aims to feed, house, educate, and inspire the children they care for. They enable students to have travel experiences that have the power to positively shape their live but especially benefit the communities in which they work.

So, I invite you to step forward and to make the right choice by supporting my project. Never forget that everything we do in life is a choice. Absolutely everything. And those choices dictate the kind of life that we’re gonna live. As soon as you can understand that, then you start to take ownership of your life, you start to design your life to turn out whatever way you want it to.
Any donation, regardless of their amount is welcomed and could make a big difference !
Thank you very, very much!
