My Travel Story

I will be travelling to the big island of Hawaii in May 2017 for 2 months, working 30+ hours a week as a volunteer/intern at the Hawaiian Sanctuary, a nonprofit Permaculture and Eco-Retreat center. I am so excited to expand my knowledge in the field of health and wellness, and feel this centre will enhance my own well-being and will give me the tools I need to take initiative and start new programs that will enhance the wellbeing of visitors and the community.

I will be doing the Yoga Apprentice Track. I have been developing my own personal growth and healing through my yoga practice, and want to learn more about the practice of yoga and meditation through all the yoga programs they have to offer.
Here are just some of my responsibilities:
~ 40% yoga studies
~ 30% communal chores & kitchen support
~ 20% team building
~ 10% event support

I will gain knowledge in how to grow and cook sustainable, organic foods, and learn more about the culture of Hawaii. I will be helping at a centre that heals the mind, body and spirit of visitors, which will give me the knowledge to strength the health of my own local community. I am so passionate about learning how to grow in my own yoga and meditation practice, and am dedicated to sharing my knowledge on my blog with my friends, family and online community.

I also want to grow in my leadership in order to continue to pour passion for health and wellness into a program I am coordinating called Girls in Motion - an initiative dedicated to providing high school inactive girls with fun physical activity (including yoga), nutrition knowledge and recipes, personal development information and leadership skills!

I chose Hawaii because it is filled with such abundant life! It offers so many diverse climates that I can explore and enjoy the beautiful world about me. Please support me in learning how to heal others, and allow me to learn and evolve through travelling and creating lifelong connections along the way!
