Hanna at Sea
My Travel Story
I am beyond thrilled to share about an extraordinary experience that I will be lucky enough to be a part of this upcoming fall. Semester at Sea entails sailing all around the world visiting, studying, and connecting with different cultures and people in 11 countries.
My journey begins in Hamburg, Germany, where I then travel to Spain, Ghana, South Africa, Mauritius, India, Myanmar (Burma), Vietnam, China, Japan, Hawaii, and I end my travels in San Diego. Semester at Sea allows me to complete a full semester of school work to help complete my Psychology and Business Degrees while allowing me to connect with people of different cultures and backgrounds in field study classes. For example, in South Africa, I will be visiting an orphanage where children were involved in child trafficking.
In addition to taking classes on and off the ship, there are incredible opportunities to participate in field programs where students travel the country. Some of the explorations that interest me are: a wildlife reserve in South Africa, an Elephant Conservation park in Burma dedicated to protecting and maintaining the well-being of elephants rescued from poor conditions and poachers. Other adventures are traveling to the Taj Mahal, and exploring Ha Long Bay in Vietnam to learn about village life on the water. Traveling and participating in community service have always been passions of mine, and the fact that I can participate in both at a global scale is something that I feel beyond excited and blessed to partake in.
As you can imagine, this is not an inexpensive undertaking. I have been working at school, and currently work two jobs this summer to raise money. I have applied for scholarships, and I have been very fortunate enough to receive $9,200 from Semester at Sea towards my tuition.
I am hoping you would interested in helping sponsor me to be able to take advantage of this amazing opportunity. Any donation would be greatly appreciated and will help make this incredible trip a reality and enhance my overall global experience.
Attached is a link to my FundMyTravel page which outlines more in depth expenses. I thank you for any donation no matter how small. I welcome the opportunity to discuss this in person or answer any questions you may have, and would love to hear from you.
All my best and thank you again!
Lots of Love,
Hanna
