Hello!

My name is Ariana Orne. I am about to be a senior at Jacksonville University, studying Social Sciences, a degree which combines psychology, sociology and political science. This upcoming fall I will be traveling to Athens. This trip will allow me to conduct independent research involving the turmoil within Greece's government and how it apples to the social aspects of what occurs in the country. I have decided to do this research because I will gain great experience and first hand knowledge that will aid me in earning a Master's degree in Public Policy following my graduation in the Spring. This trip will allow me to expand my knowledge and have something to focus my attention while receiving my masters degree. I am passionate about this project, because as you can see in my photos I went to Italy my junior year of high school. While in Italy I did a cultural exchange and stayed at a complete strangers home. While there, I was able to observe how Italians live, eat, transport themselves between destinations, and even how they study in school. My passion for this trip is derived from the idea that I will be placed right into Greek society as a student and not a tourist. I will also get to see Greece in the same way that I saw Italy. I have a huge passion for Political Science and how it relates to the global community. International study is an important factor in the well being of our community. This trip is meaningful to me because it is the first time I will be by myself for such an extended period of time. The history of Greece is beyond fascinating. History is something I believe plays a huge role in the foundations of society, as well as the future. It will truly broaden my horizons of this planet and will inspire me to travel more, so that one day, I will become a well rounded, active member of political society!
