Glasgow x JAPAN: An artists perspiration
My Travel Story
GLASGOW X KYOTO
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Japanese culture has always interested me, I am enthused by the traditions, techniques, skill and most of all respect and values. I embark on Kyoto-SEIKA university's Sculpture programme so that I may learn these components, enhance my skillset in it's facilities and develop my work as an artist and thinker. The connection between student and teacher to encourage their potential is hugely important in Japan. Human connection is deeply embedded in my work and in my person, I believe that building relationships and cultivating the mind through connection with others will transgress into the development of society. At SEIKA this is of such value it is in their mission statement.
MAIN OBJECTIVES:
-Explore the community of SEIKA & Kyoto and take part in various different opportunities that arise
-To actively facilitate my own opportunities, whether that be exhibitions, workshops, skill sharing or hopefully something more unique to the experience, bringing together the 2 cultures and interpret these with my peers
-To fully imbed myself in all classes and studio culture, building my skillsey in a way I could not have done without this opportunity
-To develop my language skills in Japanese
N/B: I am slowly learning chotto(a little) Japanese.
The audio within the video is me fumbling my way through my revision book saying useful things about my job at Honda and my wife Mitchiko-San
