My Travel Story

Hi everyone! I've been planning to study in the UK for my undergraduate degree since last November. Unfortunately, finances have been extremely tight. I am working, but I usually only average about 15 to 20 hours a week, if I am lucky. I am currently looking for a second job. Out of each paycheque I pay my bills, including a high rate of car insurance, due to my age and gender. I also obviously pay for my own gas and, buy my own personal care products. Other than that, I do not spend my money on anything frivilous, and save every penny I can. I saved up for my passport, and have sent transcripts and test scores to various universites across the UK, which has been hundreds of dollars. So as a result, up until my spring semester of university ended, saving up has been a real challenge. My parents are trying to help me with what they can, but they also need to take care of my other three siblings' needs as well, and life is expensive. The costs listed are the only things that I need to pay out of pocket, as everything else (things such as tuition, accomidation, and study materials) can be covered by a US Federal Loan. Although I will not be leaving until 22nd September, I must have a total of £860 (roughly $1100) saved up by the middle of August in order to apply for my Tier  4 Student Visa and pay the National Health Service Immigation Surcharges with enough time for processing. That is simply not enough time for me to save up that kind of money with my current wage and hours, so any amount of a donation would be greatly appreciated. This year I finished my first year of university with a 3.69 GPA and I therfore believe that I am suited to study overseas where the education is of a higher caliber. I believe in hard work and really reaching for my dreams in order to accomplish my goals. Although I have just finished a year of university, I will be entering this autumn as a Year One student  at the University of Chester (Bachelor's degrees only take 3 years to earn in England and Wales, so I will still be on track to graduate in the Summer of 2020). The course I will be studying is Graphic Design. The Graphic Design industry is one of the most demanding and competitive, yet creative career-paths that one can pursue. Those with an international experience and perspective will have a great advantage in furthering their careers and gaining clientele. Therefore, I believe that studying in such a nation as the UK, which has both a rich history and an international connexion like no other, will allow me to become more culturally defined and aware. This, in turn, will grant me with more oppurtunities to pursue my career and begin with a higher starting salary, along with an experince that will impact me for the rest of my life. I hope to broaden my global perspective by having the opportunity of studying and attending university in the UK.
