Anti-human trafficking service trip to Thailand
I will be traveling to Thailand in January 2017 for an international service learning trip through Daemen College. During our trip we will be working with an amazing organization called the Development and Education Program for Daughters and Communities Center in the Greater Mekong Subregion (DEPDC/GMS). DEPDC is located in Northern Thailand, and is a non-profit, non-governmental, community-based organization that works to prevent and protect children and youth from human trafficking. This organization aims to help the most at-risk children in the community by decreasing the factors that make them voulnerable to trafficking. The preventative measures and programs provided include educaiton, accomodation, protection, vocational and life-skills training, community outreach, and leadership development. During our time in Thailand we will assist with the ongoing education of community members on the dangers of human trafficking, work to update safe accommodations for victims of trafficking, and contribute to other services provided by DEPDC, depending on their needs during the time of our visit.
Funds raised through this campaign will go directly toward my program fee and donation to the DEPDC.
