This spring break I have the opportunity to enhance my degree by studying in Nicaragua for a week. I will be working with the players, coaches, and athletic trainers at the Universidad Americana-Managua under the pretense that sports are a common language by which people all over the world can communicate. We will work with their athleltic trainers to teach them effective on-field and off-field evaluation techniques.

  • One More Week!

    One more week!
One more week left to donate to my trip to Nicaragua! I am so close to reaching my goal and am so thankful to everyone who has donated so far. We just had another pre-trip meeting and found out more information about our pre-trip preparation! We will be working with soccer players and coaches to teach them proper concussion management and ways to play that could prevent concussions. We will also teach them about heat illness and how to manage and treat the signs and symptoms of heat illness.

Volcanoes and Beaches and Lakes oh my!
Did you know Nicaragua has 19 volcanoes, 8 of which are still active? We get to visit one of them, while we're visiting, which is just a month away! We had our first pre-trip meeting today and got more of a schedule and a better idea of what all we will be doing. Our first full day, we get to visit Laguna Apoyo which is south of Managua (the capital) and is a natural lagoon and nature reserve. It's getting real and super exciting! Thanks to all that have donated so far, I am so close to my goal!
