I am a student at California State University Fresno and I am an English Education and Linguistics major with an emphasis in teaching English as a second language. I want to travel abroad in order to be submersed in another culture and language since that is an important part of my education. My goal is to apply what I learn about culture and language to my teaching to better help the students I intend to teach. I am passionate about this project because the study of culture and language is intriguing and very important to me. I am a volunteer at the American English Institute at my school and have been helping students from other countries perfect their English; it is a passion of mine that I enjoy doing. I love to volunteer and help people out to the best of my abilities. Along with helping at the American English Institute I am also currently a volunteer puppy raiser for Guide Dogs For The Blind and have raised four dogs for the blind. I chose this destination because I feel like I would be able to get a good variety of culture and language. I also chose this destination because a student in the American English Institute highly suggested I experience the culture here. This trip is meaningful to me because I want to be able to provide the best teaching and understanding to my students learning English as a foreign language, I feel this trip would provide the experience to better further my teaching abilities.
