My Travel Story

by: Joshua Scott Start Date: May 23, 2018 - End Date: Aug 30, 2018
During my time at the University of Oregon, I have been involved in neuroimaging research; working with mothers who have been diagnosed with psychopathological disorders. I have been given an opportunity to harness the skills that I've learned and apply them in helping mothers and children in India this summer! The University of Oregon has selected me to represent them as a medical intern at a local hospital in Pune, India.

The program in which I will be interning has  a main focus on the impoverished communitites within Pune. I will be receiving hands on experience about the health demographics of India and relaying information about maternal and child health within these communities. This is not a vacation but an important oppotunity for me to really make a difference to someone. Helping one or two people may not change the world, but it can change the world for those few people. And that is where it counts. We live in a time where the entire world is connected like it has never been before and that puts us in a postion to do some good for those who really need to be shown some love in this life.

So I am asking you; my family and friends, to help me with my journey in being a part of something greater than myself and trying to help change this world for the better. I am asking for donations of at least $25, but any amount is helpful! Your donations will be going towards my flight costs and program fees for the full two months of my stay. I thank you from the bottom of my heart and I will be uploading photos and keeping you all posted on everything I will be doing there!

With the knowledge learned from my trip, I plan to continue my work in psychological research for mental/physical health in communities here within the United States and abroad!

Thank you for taking the time to be a part of my journey!
