My Travel Story

by: Jenni Hall Start Date: Jun 15, 2016 - End Date: Dec 14, 2016
"Love for all Living Creatures is the Most Noble Attribute of Man" Charles Darwin

I've been lucky enough have some incredible experiences with animals in the wild over the past few years from coming face to face with an anaconda in the Amazon to watching hundreds of little penguins come to shore on Phillip Island. I'd love to keep witnessing more amazing animals in their natural habitat and want future generations to have the same opportunities but sadly there are now over 16,000 species which are endangered and threatened with extinction.

So what am I going to do about it and how can you help? I've decided it would be selfish to keep taking these experiences and not start giving something back. Unfortunately I don't have the money to make a big difference but I'm willing to give something just as important, my time. For my first volunteer project I've narrowed it down to one of the two projects below. Now this is where you come in, I'd like you to sponsor me to go on this trip and help protect these beautiful creatures and in return for every donation I'll let you vote for which of the following trips you'd like me to go on. Which of these animal has a stronger spot in your heart?

Project 1: Panda Breeding Centre - Bifengxia, China
The giant pandas future is uncertain, with less than 1600 pandas in the wild this project is vital to their survival. During the project I'll be assisting in the feeding of the pandas and helping with general day-to-day maintenance work - cleaning the enclosures. In addition I may be able to assist with medical examinations and breeding efforts.

Project 2: Animal Rescue Project - Costa Rica
Even though it covers only 0.03% of the worlds landmass, Costa Rica is home to an incredible 500,000 species. The rescue centre was set up to provide sanctuary for animals which have been injured or rescued from captivity to help re-introduce them into the wild. The project will involve working with sloths and other primates with daily tasks including preparing food, feeding the animals, maintaining the enclosures and environmental educational work.

Thank you in advance for any help you can give and don't forget to let me know the project you'd like to see me volunteer on.
