My Travel Story

I have been given the incredible opportunity to study abroad in Australia this upcoming January. While in Australia I will be working on a client project for an Australian consulting firm that specializes in Aged Care. This project will give me valuable experience in international marketing and will open up so many future possibilities for me. I will be able to use this experience to gain a better understanding of how other countries operate their businesses and how it differs from business in the United States. I will also be able to further develop my professional skills, communication skills, marketing skills, and so many others.

I am so excited to be able to fully immerse myself in another country's culture for three whole weeks. This is my first experience being abroad on a long-term basis. This will be a great adventure for me, and will help me to explore my passions for marketing, travel, and photography. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that I just could not pass up.

The program cost is about $4,300, which covers Room & Board, Airfare from Cairns to Sydney, Ground Transportation, and some Tours & Excursions. Tuition is an additional $2,300. My airfare to get to and from Australia totals $2,228.46, and of course I will be taking extra money to cover meals, additional travel, and any other daily expenses. I have been offered a $2000 merit scholarship from the Farmer School of Business, which would go toward covering some of the tuition. I have also applied to another scholarship, which I will hear back about later in the semester.

I would love to be able to receive enough donations to cover the cost of my flight to and from Australia, but of course I would appreciate any donations. Anything will help offset my costs towards this amazing opportunity. Please feel free to share my story, and be sure to follow my blog for travel updates, pictures, and more. Thank you for helping support me while I explore, grow, and develop myself personally and professionally.

    Progress!
We're less than two months out and a lot has happened! I've been meeting with my class since the beginning of the semester to get a head start on our project. We've done some extensive research on the Aged Care sector in Australia and Internationally, and we've started to form our presentation. We've also constructed a couple surveys to implement once we've arrived in Australia. We have had numerous Skype sessions with the client, and they're very excited to host us. Can't wait!
