My Travel Story

by: Ashleigh Fay Start Date: Mar 31, 2017 - End Date: Mar 30, 2018
My name is Ashleigh Fay and I am currently a second-year undergraduate studying marine biology at the University of Maine. I am starting to prepare for my semester abroad in the spring of 2018 in Dunedin, New Zealand at the Univesity or Otago. This university is directly on the coast of New Zealand's south island, not far from Antarctica. The university has a well-known marine science/oceanography program that takes advantage of their surrounding terrain. A lot of my course options there will be hands on and out in the field. I will be spending February 2018-June 2018 there.

As you can imagine, traveling to and living in a country that far away is very pricey. Im here to ask for any little help that your heart can give. Anything will be appreciated and used directly towards the development of my career in the field of marine biology. Thanks so much :)

    Otago Peninsula Wildlife!
The wildlife surrounding the town of Dunedin is completely different than what I would normally see on the east coast. In the photo here, northern fur seals are getting comfy on the beaches they normally hang out on, (only a few minutes from where I will be living!). & even some seals like to get mischievous and take a nap in the middle of the road and hold up traffic
